Abstract
We present a study of the steady reactive state (SRS) in the CO + 12O2→CO2 reaction on square and hexagonal surfaces. An abstract model of this reaction is simulated by Monte Carlo method. The relative concentrations of CO and O2 are varied to obtain a continuous flow of CO2 (i.e. SRS). This SRS exists between two critical concentrations of CO (or O2). We study the coverage rates of O, CO, number of empty sites and the production rate of CO2. We obtain analytical fits for these quantities on square and hexagonal surfaces. These expressions are then discussed in terms of the coordination number.
