Abstract
The intrinsic surface dynamics of an MIT bag is realised. The inertial parameter and eigenfrequency for the monopole oscillation of a spherical MIT bag were calculated. Remarkable agreement between theoretical and experimental values of the masses of nucleons, Delta -isobars and their surface excited states has been obtained. The possible contribution of surface tension is reconsidered on this new basis.
