Abstract
ZrO2-supported Mo sulfide water gas shift (WGS) catalysts were prepared by the incipient wetness impregnation method with varying MoO3 surface coverage. TEM, XRD, Raman spectroscopy and XPS characterization revealed the formation of a topmost Mo-S layer and Mo-O subsurface in the ZrO2-supported Mo sulfide catalysts above MoO3 monolayer surface coverage. The CO conversion during WGS reaction over the ZrO2-supported Mo sulfide catalysts increased with Mo content up to the monolayer coverage and correlated with the extent of Mo sulfidation.
