Abstract
CoNi alloy surfaces under Ar ion bombardment were investigated by AES. The surface concentration was estimated by using direct spectrum synthesis of differential mode spectrum, together with the usual peak to peak estimation. No significant ion-induced surface segregation was observed, suggesting that this alloy system is favorable as a standard sample for AES analysis.
