Abstract

This contribution reports on the formation of coating surfaces of mirror polished Cu–Ni alloy (here Cu 55Ni 45) substrates by self-assembling monolayers of n-dodecanethiol molecules. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), contact angle and electrochemical polarisation curve measurements have been carried to assess the extent and the quality of the modifications. Good quality monolayers are obtained for electrochemically reduced substrates reacted for 2 h in 10 −1 M solutions of n-dodecanethiol in ethanol.
