Abstract
The energy constant K s of surface anisotropy was determined for amorphous films of Co 1− x Zr x . Surface mode excitation in a Spin Wave Resonance (SWR) experiment at X-band was used to derive K s. The Surface Inhomogeneity (SI) model with the symmetrical boundary conditions for the surface spins was applied to calculate K s. The energy of surface anisotropy is given as E s = − K s cos 2 θ M where θ M is the angle between magnetization and the film normal.
