Abstract

Surface (lift) and deposition (passive) samples were obtained from a mechanical room in a school that contained asbestos insulation. The sampling time period for this project was thirty days. This sampling was performed to evaluate dust fall and surface concentrations of asbestos. The insulation in this room was considered to be in good condition, as determined by traditional asbestos inspection methods. Results obtained in this study suggest that fiber release was low during the observed study period. Future use of surface and deposition samplers for evaluating in‐place asbestos‐containing materials is discussed.
