Abstract

AbstractThe reactions of cleaved (100) single crystal surfaces of FeS2 with in‐situ deposited lithium and potassium have been studied with X‐ray and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy. Room temperature deposition of K leads to the formation of KFeS2 as has been verified by comparism with core level and valence band spectra of polycrystalline KFeS2. The reaction products formed by deposition of Li are thought to be Li2S and FeS. The results of the UHV experiments are compared to electrochemical measurements.
