Abstract

Surface adsorption technique has been employed for the treatment of textile wastewater by electrolyzing the effluent with a current of 4 A for 200 minutes. Reductions in color and pH variation of the effluent were monitored through absorbance and pH measurements throughout the process. Concentration levels of Ni2+ in the wastewater ranged between 271 to 280 mg/l, having an average of 274.4 mg/l, standard deviation of ±4.449719 mg/l and a coefficient of variation of 1.621618 mg/l. Whereas Cr3+ ion levels varied from 196 to 200 mg/l with an average of 197.6 mg/l, standard deviation of ±2.302173 mg/l and coefficient of variation of 1.165067. It was observed that pH adjustments were necessary for treated samples to be employed for domestic purposes. Key Words: Effluents Treatment, Nickel, Chromium, Surface adsorption
