Abstract
The decomposition of the organothallium compounds (CH 3) 2C(OX)CH 2Tl(OAc) 2 (X = H, CH 3 and C 2H 5) in aqueous solution has been studied. The nature of the major product of decomposition indicates that migration of the OX group takes place during cleavage of the CTl bond. The influence of acidity on the rate of decomposition shows that in acidic media R(OX)Tl 2+ is the principal reactive species.
