Abstract

Synopsis The cell model applied to liquid helium by the authors in their first communication is slightly extended. The volume per cell and the total number of cells are obtained by the condition of minimum free energy. In this model the number of cells wich accomodate two particles is no more equal to the number of cells with zero particles. The results obtained in the first paper are not appreciably changed but the present model permits not only to explain the anomalous specific heat and increase of entropy, but also the negative thermic dilatation of liquid helium at temperatures below the λ-point.
