Abstract

In the frame of the mixed (vector and pseudoscalar) meson theory, the variational method is applied to the calculation of the binding energies of He 4 and He 5. For the first nucleus, the binding energy obtained is 23 Mev. For He 5, the result is practically equivalent to those of Tyrrell and Way who used a Gaussian potential; it is confirmed that this nucleus is unstable against the emission of a neutron.
