Abstract

Supramolecular tetracarboxyphenylporphyrin (TCPP) has been employed to tune the photocatalytic performance of BiOBr. Benefiting from the molecular dipole induced by the electron withdrawing group, the built-in electric field can be created in TCPP, which extends the light absorption range of the photocatalyst. Scanning electron microscopy images demonstrated that TCPP has been uniformly dispersed on the BiOBr surface. The results of radical trapping experiments and electron spin resonance spectra reveal that TCPP/BiOBr possesses a greater concentration of reactive radicals. The molecular oxygen activation performance of TCPP/BiOBr can be promoted relative to pure BiOBr and boost the photocatalytic activity for antibiotics degradation, such as tetracycline and ciprofloxacin. This work deepens the insight of structure-activity correlation of porphyrin supramolecular-based catalysts and offers a general approach at the molecular level for activity optimization.
