Abstract

Supramalleolar osteotomy is a well-described procedure for both congenital and acquired pediatric foot and ankle disorders. Its use in the adult population is also described but less well documented. The goal remains to achieve a plantigrade foot with decreased pain. The technique itself has many variations, and although the typical osteotomy is performed through the distal tibial metaphysis, the shape of the osteotomy, the type of wedge cut (opening or closing), and the associated fibular osteotomy can all vary.
