SummaryAuthor’s personal experience after 100 transvenous liver biopsy is reported.A particular reference to sus-hepatic manometry and venography is given.Cirrhotic patients bleeding from esophageal varices or with ascites presents with a higher portal pressure than other cirrhotics. Moreover, cirrhosis has been diagnosed whenever pressure gradient was superior to 23 mmHg.This exam seems particularly relevant in cases of portal hypertension and is, of course, the only biopsy technique available when a transcapsular ap proach is contraindicated.
