Abstract

AbstractWe have found in our research so far that proliferation of leukemia cell, which is a typical cancer cell, was remarkably affected by irradiation of blue LED light. In this study, we made a special experimental apparatus which could irradiate blue light as strong as 100 W/m2 to the cells in culture medium. And it was found that the proliferation of leukemia cells (K562) was drastically surpressed. In order to educiate the cause, flow cytometry analysis was performed for the irradiated cells. The result showed that the cell suppression might be caused by the irregularity of cell cycle occurred by the strong blue light (© 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
