Abstract

AbstractThe intravenous injection of thyroxine (about 15 μg/kg b. wt.) was found to have blocked completely the thyroidal response to local cooling of the“heat loss center” after 2 hours in the goat. However, 15 to 20 min after the administration of thyroxine this blockage was still largely incomplete, suggesting that an accumulation of thyroxine has to occur at some site before a full inhibition of TSH release is obtained. The results are discussed in the light of Brown‐Grant's (1957)“feed‐back” hypothesis of the control of thyroid function.
