Abstract

Suppression of the chirp of terahertz (THz) pulses by using a single-mode optical fiber as a pulse stretcher is investigated. We theoretically show that the chirp obtained with fiber-based pulse stretcher can be suppressed below the fundamental limit for a grating-based pulse stretcher. We experimentally verify the validity of this theory and demonstrate generation of low-chirp THz pulses.
