Abstract

Severe coupled-bunch instability in the Super-ALIS storage ring is eliminated by using a two-dimensional operation of two movable tuners installed in an accelerating cavity. This method is shown experimentally to be suitable for and effective in suppressing coupled bunch instabilities in compact rings, in which there is little room for corrective instruments and in which beam current and phase relations during acceleration can often change largely and abruptly.
