Supporting Student Teachers in an Urban, Multicultural Setting

Abstract

There is nothing unusual or startling about Grand Rapids Central High School, an urban school like hundreds of others across the country. But like most preservice teachers, the students in our teacher education program at Grand Valley State University have had very little experi ence in urban schools, and many find the prospect of student teaching at Central frightening indeed.
