Abstract

Vaccine hesitancy is a complex multi-faceted problem, but it can be solved. There are some historical references to help with the reluctance to receive the Covid-19 vaccine today. Information professionals can contribute solutions to this problem. It is our contribution by supplying healthcare providers and healthcare consumers quality trustworthy information to squelch vaccine hesitancy and build vaccine confidence. This Health Literacy column will suggest information resources and strategies to dispel vaccine hesitancy by healthcare providers to a variety of groups. Also, it will suggest tools by which health care providers can continue to track reasons for vaccine hesitancy’s rise and fall. It is not geared to “anti-vaxxers,” so adamant is not getting the vaccine, but those hesitant to be vaccinated and able to be persuaded with empathy, sensitivity and accurate information.
