Abstract

The method of transmission of arbitrary pictorial information through auditory sensation has been studied with the aim of sensory aids for the visually handicapped. This method utilizes the control of sound lateralization, and simple patterns can be expressed in auditory space perceived with binaural headphones. In this paper, we propose a new auditory display system which helps the individual to handwrite characters and to draw figures using the feedback of sound imaging signals.
