Abstract

During the decade 1971–1980 the Department of Education, and its predecessor the Education Division of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, spent about one billion dollars on educational technology research, development, demonstrations, and on support for local purchase of equipment and facilities (including facilities for public and educational broadcasting). A breakdown of this spending is given, together with an analysis of the spending pattern. Recommendations are made for future support of educational technology.
