Abstract

A staff support group was set up for nurses working in an oncology ward in an acute general hospital. The group ran for a period of fifteen months providing emotional support for individual staff members and providing better teamwork between nursing and social work staff. It also enabled a deeper understanding of the origins of stress in such a ward.
