Abstract
A prerequisite for achieving integration in a supply chain network is a common understanding of related terms and definitions, either syntactically or semantically. This paper proposes a generic approach for unification of information standardization and presentation through application of concepts adopted from different fields of study, viz., system science, biological classification, and object-oriented modeling. The result is a systematic representation of supply chain information by way of the supply chain system taxonomy. As proof of concept, general system taxonomy and supply chain system taxonomy have been developed based on the proposed framework and methodology.
