Abstract

In 1998, with the decision to produce Jaguar’s new X-400, Ford’s Halewood plant had an opportunity to review the supply chain architecture-in terms of its suppliers, logistics partners, in-house body shop, assembly line layout and dealers- from a fresh perspective and to re-assemble these individual components in a way that would result in superior performance of the supply chain as a whole.The unabridged Supply Chain design at Jaguar case won the efmd European Case Writing Competition prize in the Multimedia category in 2002.The competition is run by the European Foundation for Management Development (efmd), Brussels, Belgium. The SCM category is sponsored by ISLI-Bordeaux Business School.
