Abstract

In Europe, Supplementary Protection Certificates have been available for human and veterinary medicinal products since 1993. Although certain fundamental issues surrounding them have been resolved, questions still remain about their scope and whether they can be obtained at all for some products. This article explores where we are now and what challenges lay ahead.
