Abstract

Social constructionism presents challenges as well as opportunities for family therapy supervision. Although the modernist tradition has provided the supervision literature with theory and research about supervision, the postmodern influence in psychotherapy supervision has only recently begun to be reflected in the supervision literature. This paper is intended to add to the ongoing development of supervision practice from a social-constructionist position. The authors discuss several dilemmas presented by social constructionism in supervision. Goals and practices for supervision informed by social constructionism are advanced.
