AbstractRetail ‐ Food & Beverage (MIC: 5.3 SIC: 5141 NAIC:424410)Supervalu is a major food retailer and distributor to independently‐owned retail food stores. As of Feb 28 2004, Co. operated 1,225 Save‐A‐Lot extreme value stores, including 821 licensed Save‐A‐Lot locations, 280 Co.‐owned stores and 124 Deals‐Nothing Over a Dollar general merchandise stores; 258 regional supermarkets under the Cub Foods, Shop 'n Save, Shoppers Food Warehouse, bigg's, Farm Fresh, Scott's Foods, and Hornbacher's banners. Additionally, Co. is the primary supplier to approximately 2,500 retail grocery stores, as well as Co.'s 258 regional supermarkets, while serving as a secondary supplier to about 660 stores.
