Abstract
The supersymmetric completion of four-dimensional Born-Infeld-type actions is established by means of superspace techniques for the construction of higher-curvature invariants. The coupling of these actions to supergravity is also obtained. These results are relevant for the understanding of the full effective action of superstring theories.
