Abstract

This paper offers the authors’ views on critical magneto-aeroelastic behavior for dielectric rectangular isotropic plates. Magneto-aeroelastic stability and dynamic models are used to determine the total perturbed pressure caused by the incident flow of a perfectly conducting supersonic gas and a magnetic field as well as the critical flutter speed of flowing stream. The analytical description presented here is a generalization of the well-known pressure’s formula obtained on the basis of the “piston theory” of the classical theory of gas dynamics in the case of a magneto-hydrodynamic flow of elastic plates. Along with the analytical solutions, parametric studies are supplied to inform the reader about the influence of magnetic field on the flutter boundary.
