Abstract

An introduction to recent advances in computing effective superpotentials of four dimensional $\mathcal{N}=1$ SUSY gauge theories coupled to matter is presented. The correspondence with matrix models and two proofs of this are discussed and a novel derivation of the Veneziano-Yankielowicz superpotential for a pure gauge theory is given using the generalized Konishi anomaly.
