Abstract

Superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity of 4 strains of methylotrophic yeasts of the genera Candida, Torulopsis, Hansenula and Pichia was demonstrated. Strains tested were grown on glucose or methanol. Yeasts grown on methanol possessed considerably higher levels of SOD- and catalase activity than cells cultivated on glucose.
