Abstract

A super-narrow band rejection filter made of AgGaS2 single crystal was constructed successfully by using the optical activity and accidental isotropic character of the crystal. The half bandwidth and optical density of the filter reached 0.3 nm and 4, respectively. With this filter, kept at 251 K, Raman lines down to 15 cm−1 Raman shift may be measured with excitation with 496.5 nm radiation from an argon ion laser.
