Abstract

In this study, aluminum tripolyphosphate (ATP) and silicon dioxide (SiO2) composites were introduced on the surface of copper sheets by spraying technique to prepare coating with flame retardant, superhydrophobic and corrosion resistant properties (ATP@SiO2). The coating not only exhibits excellent water repellency, but also has remarkable mechanical stability, with the corrosion current density reduced by an order of magnitude in electrochemical tests and the corrosion inhibition rate of 99.17 %. In flame retardant tests, the burning time of cotton fabrics coated with sprayed ATP@SiO2was extended by 38 s, with no smoldering observed. This study provides insights into the development of novel superhydrophobic materials with enhanced corrosion protection and flame-retardant properties.
