Abstract
In locally supersymmetric grand unified models we show a rather model-independent upper bound 3·1011 GeV for the scale of supersymmetry breaking, which is derived by consideringSU2×U1 breaking at electroweak mass scale. This bound necessarily implies the existence of new particles (superpartners) below 104 GeV.
