Abstract

Second harmonic and four-wave mixing studies of the above threshold oscillation of a conventional broadband Nd:YAG pumped dye laser indicate the presence of super-Gaussian field statistics. Direct transfer of fast (>10 10Hz) optical pump noise to the dye laser output is seen to occur over a wide range of pumping conditions giving a broadband light source with both fast (picosecond) and ultrafast (femtosecond) optical coherence.
