Abstract

In a new type of two-dimensional meso-pores, we have studied the superfluid transition of 4He using a torsional oscillator. The meso-pores have void 17A˚in height supported by pillars in every about 50A˚. When the 2D pore is filled with 4He, the superfluid transition temperature T c is found to be 1.73±0.02 K. The difference of T c from the bulk transition temperature is consistent with that estimated from the finite-size scaling assuming that the scale length is the 2D void height. The superfluid density ϱ s is fitted to (T c−T) ζ just below T c down to 1.2 K with an exponent ζ=1.04±0.04.
