Abstract
AbstractSome of the phenomena associated with supercritical fluid extraction are discussed and illustrated by a film. A number of isolation techniques to remove the dissolved product from the loaded supercritical phase are presented, special emphases is given to the effect of variation of the isolation techniques when mixtures of homologous compounds are to be fractionated. As an example the separation of eicosapentaenoic acid ethyl ester (C20‐−5) from a mixture of fatty acid ethyl esters from codfish oil which consists of saturated and unsaturated fatty acid ethyl esters from C14 to C22 containing up to 6 double bonds is discussed.
