Abstract

Separations by Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) yield different retentions for oligomer series depending on their end groups. This is demonstrated for oligomers from styrene and from 2-vinyl naphthalene; the end groups included hydrogen atom, hydroxyl group, oxirane ring, and diol moiety. This makes SFC a powerful tool for monitoring the preparation and subsequent reaction of oligomers of the macromer type; this is shown for some examples.
