Abstract

Measurements are presented which show that the superconducting transition temperature of a eutectic alloy of Cd–Bi is 0.53°K in zero magnetic field. Critical-field measurements are given from which (dHc/dT)T=Tc is found to be 91 Oe/°K. These results are discussed in terms of the phase diagram of the Cd–Bi system and in terms of the use of Cd–Bi eutectic as a solder in constructing apparatus for use at very low temperatures.
