Superconductivity in the transition metal-rich layered compound Nb xTa 5− xS 2 ( x=1.72)

Abstract

Superconductivity below 4 K is reported for the layered compound Nb x Ta 5− x S 2 ( x = 1.72), which contains metal-bonded NbTa sheets bordered by sulfur layers, where the sulfur-metal-sulfur layer blocks are weakly van der Waals bonded to adjacent ones.
