Abstract

The effects of oxygen-doping and structural distortion on superconductivity of Bi 2Sr 2CaCu 2O y (Bi22212) single crystals, annealed at 600°C under oxygen pressure 10 −7 ∼ 6080 Torr, have been studied. The c-axis length showed a plateau in oxygen pressure range 10 −7 ∼ 10 −1 Torr and decreased with increasing oxygen pressure above 10 −1 Torr, which means that two stages of oxygen diffusion are involved. The full width at half maximum of x-ray 0038 reflection, which reflects the structural distortion in c direction, showed a peak around the optimized oxygen-doping. This implied that structural modification may be another factor that affected T c apart from oxygen content.
