Abstract

For organic superconductor κ-(BEDT-TTF) 2Cu(NCS) 2, the temperature dependence of magnetization was measured for various magnetic fields (1 kOe ≤ H ≤ 5 kOe) perpendicular to the conducting layers. The field-independent magnetization, which is due to a strong vortex fluctuation, is observed in the magnetization curves at T ⋍ 8.75 K. Far below T c where the fluctuation is diminished, the reversible magnetization was analyzed using Hao and Clem's model. From the analysis, the thermodynamic parameters, such as the Ginzburg-Landau parameter κ = 71, the upper critical field H c2 (0) = 11.3 T and the penetration depth λ(0) = 480 nm, were obtained.
