Abstract
A design which eliminates the superconducting magnetic insulator shields required to obtain the field uniformity necessary for the operation of travelling wave solid masers is described. This type of construction, previously in the U.S.A. at fields upt to 4 kOe, has been extended for use at a field of 10·2 kOe.
