Abstract

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is beginning to play an important role in the aeronautical industry all over the world. People now realize that CFD can be a new and effective design tool. One of the important factors that has been accelerating the development of CFD was rapid progress of supercomputers. With the increase of the data obtained by the CFD research, importance of visualization of the computed results began to be recognized. Graphic workstations that were also rapidly progressing then became another key factor for CFD research. In the present paper, how supercomputers and graphic workstations are used in the CFD research is discussed. The requirements for these machines from the view point of CFD research are also addressed.
