Abstract

A modified version of the Gerchberg iterative super-resolution algorithm has been applied in two dimensions to computer simulations of a two point object and a finite portion of its spectrum, and successful extrapolation has been attained. The modified algorithm exhibits a considerably faster rate of convergence, thus overcoming the well known drawback of the original algorithm -the slow and to some extent stagnant convergence. Results are given for both the noise-free case and for the case when signal dependent additive noise is present on the image.
