Abstract
The algorithm presented here achieves better decoupling of the Load flow equations for networks having branch elements with low X/R ratios. It does this by applying unitary (rotation) operators to the complex bus injections and the complex bus voltages. This simple modification to Stott & Alsac's [1] Fast Decoupled Loadflow (FDLF), along with the: implementation of a distributed slack bus, yields a robust and fast algorithm for loadflow problems involving large networks. Tests show that the algorithm can be more than twice as fast as FDLF.
