Abstract

Sunspot observations are taken on a regular basis, and then analysed in a systematic methodology at the Dept. of Astronomy at King Abdul Aziz University (KAAU). In this article we investigate the accuracy of these observations for the period of 12 years (1982–1993), and compare them to that of the international Sunspot Index Data Centre (SIDC) derived by A. Koeckelenbergh in Brussels, Belgium. A mean value ofK, of the order 1.76, was calculated and showed a very good agreement with the international results. Our results could potentially be utilised locally and internationally for different study and research purposes.
