Abstract

The study addresses childhood sun exposure, highlighting its importance and lasting impacts on children's health. It seeks to understand the specific implications of inadequate exposure, associating it with increased risk of skin cancer and other dermatological problems in adulthood. Preventive strategies, such as regular use of sunscreen and awareness of safe practices, are key to preventing damage. The implementation of an educational primer, prepared by the Brazilian Society of Dermatology, emerges as a crucial tool in the promotion of the health of children's skin. The resistance of children to the use of sunscreen can be addressed with innovative strategies, such as developing products specific for children. The lack of information among parents highlights the need for awareness programs in pediatric consultations, schools and communities. The study concludes that childhood sun exposure requires a proactive and educational approach, underlining the importance of continuous awareness to ensure a healthy future. Investment in education and public policy is crucial to address challenges related to childhood sun exposure.
